Quick start
1. Open a folder
Section titled “1. Open a folder”Vegha works with the folder you have open. A collection is any folder that contains a
collection.bru file. That’s the same format the Vegha desktop app and Bruno use, so an
existing collection works as-is.
The extension activates when the workspace contains a collection.bru file, or when you open
a .bru file.
2. Create or import a collection
Section titled “2. Create or import a collection”Open the Vegha view in the activity bar. With no collections yet, it offers:
- Create Collection — runs Vegha: New Collection… and writes a
collection.brufile. - Import Postman, Insomnia, Thunder Client, OpenAPI… — see Import & export.
- New Request from cURL — paste a cURL command and get a request.
3. Add a request
Section titled “3. Add a request”Right-click the collection (or a folder) and choose New Request…. Pick a method, or one of the other kinds: WebSocket, gRPC or GraphQL. The request opens in the visual editor.
4. Pick an environment
Section titled “4. Pick an environment”Select the environment name in the status bar (or run Vegha: Select Environment…) to
choose where {{variables}} resolve from. Create one with New Environment… in the
Environments view. See Environments & variables.
5. Send
Section titled “5. Send”Press Send or Ctrl+Enter (Cmd+Enter on macOS). The response opens beside the
request, with the body, headers, cookies, test results, console output and a timing breakdown.
Next steps
Section titled “Next steps”- Add assertions and tests and watch them in the Test Explorer.
- Chain a login request in front of the APIs that need its token.
- Run the whole collection with a data file.
- Ask Copilot or
@veghato write requests for you.
